"Mama~My belly hurts." Those were the first words I heard today. Soon there after, PQ ended up on the potty for another mini-round. Fun stuff at our house this morning. It wasn't a really bad bout, however, I made the decision to stay home with him today. And I'm THRILLED that I did.
We had a great day together. PQ didn't complain about belly aches...or have any other trips to the bathroom. Instead, our day was filled with hanging out and having fun. I love being home with him. I was able to get some laundry done during the day and we also mowed the lawn together. That was a treat...do you know long it took us to mow the lawn together!!?? HAHAHA.....so fun though! He had a blast and I was psyched to have his help.
From there, we played Pokemon out on the back lawn. He wanted to have a Pokemon battle but somehow it turned into a Pokemon Tea Party...hahaha. I have such a hard time playing BOY GAMES! PQ didn't mind though...he was psyched to have me home with him.
During our evening game of HIGH/LOW (a game where everyone in the family tells the HIGH-best part of their day and the LOW-worst part of their day to everyone), PQ quickly piped up that one of his HIGH's was having me home with him all day without any work. (I usually check my email a billion times during the day if I'm not working but I promised him earlier that I would not do that today. I didn't think about work at all...I focused on my time with him and it was an awesome day.)
When Papa H came home from work tonight, I ended up working at GH for a few hours. Nothing too crazy...just enough to get some hours in this week so payroll doesn't question why I haven't been in. That PT job is mindless for me. It's also a great opportunity for Papa H and PQ to have their 'man time'. When I got home from GH, I immediately could smell 'man soap'...yup, my 2 boys were freshly showered and getting ready for bed. I love my boys...and I especially love the fact that they both smelled like 'man soap' tonight. Papa H is a awesome dad...and the smell of 'man soap' was confirmation that he enjoys his 'man time' with PQ just as much as PQ enjoys the 'man time' with Papa H.
My high/low for today?
High-Being home with PQ without any work
Low-Worrying about the rain for Saturday...it was short-lived though. Grampa H and Grammy Jo-Jo are bringing up their huge white tents from their wedding. Who cares if it rains now!
PS...the bouncy house is being delivered tomorrow night!!! It's sleeping over...hahaha

Stressed!!??
Today has been an odd day for me...My body has been tired and achey all day. At first I thought it was a cold coming on but now I'm starting to wonder. I wonder if it's a little thing called STRESS. Not sure though.
My head is throbbing...my neck is aching...and I keep wanting to bite my nails (which is something that I have not done in a very long time). Not sure what's going on...but I'm sure it will all make sense sooner or later.
It could still be a little flu bug of some sort (because PQ has had diarrhea today-not sure why). Papa H is feeling down as well...scratchy throat and raspy voice. Who knows what's in the air...but I'm signing off for now and heading in to take a nice hot shower and then head to bed for the night. Good night.

Good Guys vs. Bad Guys

Wow! What a day! A day filled with many questions...and a day filled with many answers. Absolutely awesome day indeed. A day that confirmed to me that I wanted to blog...tell the entire world (or at least my close friends-the other people can be creepy) about my amazing son and family. It's the little stories that start adding up to the big picture. Time is passing so quickly and so many moments are forgotten over time. I'm hoping that our blog will help us to keep the memories fresh in our minds.
Let me fill you in on our day. (The story may seem long...but it is definitely worth it!)
It started out to be a normal day (Preschool then to Grammy's house for the afternoon). When I picked up PQ at my mothers house, I needed to bring some papers to DHS for some of my patient's. I often take PQ with me at the end of the day so that he can feel more connected to me and my job. (AKA: The thing that keeps us apart during the day...the thing that he is so curious about...the thing that he wishes would just go away.) After leaving DHS, PQ asked if he could peak in on the Army Recruiting office. Upon seeing 2 people dressed in camo (his favorite pattern, by the way), he quickly asked me what they were doing. I explained to him that those people were working...and he quickly asked me what they do for work. (It was the dreaded question in my mind...the talk about war, guns, victims, and the families affected...uuhh.)
God was definitely with me when I began to explain to PQ (in 5 year old terms) that there are 'good guys' and 'bad guys' in this world. I explained to him that there are 'bad guys' in our world that try and hurt us. The Army guys are the 'good guys' that try and protect us from all of the 'bad guys'. The conversation seemed to go so easy, for some reason. PQ asked me if they have guns...and I said yes. I explained to him that sometimes the 'bad guys' will try and hurt people so the 'good guys' have guns that are used for protection. From there, he asked me if those people go to Heaven when they die. I reminded PQ that not everyone goes to Heaven...and that people need to believe in Jesus, admit that they are a sinner, and then ask Jesus into their hearts in order for them to go to Heaven.
Without a pause, PQ asked me if he had already asked Jesus into his heart. I told him that I didn't know if he had done this on his own...and before I could say anymore, he asked me if I would pray with him. OF COURSE I WOULD!!!!!! I was on the verge of tears (trying to pull out onto Main Street) as we stopped in our place and prayed. He said:
'Dear God~Thank you for this wonderful day. Thank you for the beautiful weather. Dear Lord, please bring Jesus into my heart. I know that I do bad things sometimes but I really want to make sure that Jesus comes into my heart. Thank you. Amen.'
5 years old and saying this prayer without any help...amazing...I was so proud of him and there was no way that he could understand how awesome I thought he did with his prayer.
PS...While we were praying, someone laid on their horn...apparently they had a different agenda than we did. We finished up with his prayer and I pulled out onto Main Street as I had planned. HAHAHA.
That's it...that's the reason for all of this....our blog. Our little man turned 5 years old yesterday and today he confirmed that we're teaching him valuable lessons. I think we're doing a great job as parents. PTL!! (Did we mention that he thought he was going to have a mustache when he woke up on his 5th birthday!!??? Apparently, we need to work on the AGE thing with him...he doesn't quite get that he's not THAT old...hahaha)
So in a nutshell, today didn't end up being as 'normal' as we thought....and we are so thankful for that!
