Chick-Fil-A Prize...and an Update!

I need to apologize for my absence.  Things have been a little busy for us....and I've been trying to get to bed at a reasonable time each night.  An early bedtime for me typically means no blogger updates for you.  Sorry!

I'm going to keep today's post short and sweet.  In a nutshell, we went to Chick-Fil-A for our Grand Prize Meal Makeover.  We took the Glory Family and the Sunshine Family with us...and we had a BLAST!  Our evening consisted of eating chicken sandwiches, completing more random acts of kindness, and enjoying ice cream sundaes before we came back home.  All in all, it was an amazing night with friends!

Tony is officially famous!

Since our trip to Chick-Fil-A, we have been enjoying our time together.  It's hard to believe that Sugar is almost 6 months old!  Time flies, that's for sure.  Over the past few days, we've noticed that Sugar has been getting a little grouchy (which is not typical for her at all).  Earlier today, she was crying and rubbing her ears at Grammy's house while I was at work.  I ended up taking Sugar to the doctors this afternoon and it's a good thing I did!  Little Miss Sugar has a double ear infection!  Poor little muffin girl.  She's miserable.  She doesn't want to sleep.  Everytime she lays down, she ends up crying out in pain.  Man oh man...come on antibiotics...it's time for you to come and rescue my girl.

Just a few days ago, she was smiling up a storm.  I want my smiley girl back!  Oh, happy girl...come out, come out, wherever you are!

Blessings all around.  We have been blessed with amazing friends and an amazing family!  Wow!  This past weekend reminds me yet again...we are truely BLESSED!

Chick-Fil-A Does It Again!

Just last night I was telling Glory how much I love the Chick-Fil-A company.  As I hung up the phone with the store manager (after confirming our plans for tomorrow night), I shared my love for this company.  Seriously...EVERY SINGLE time we have had any type of interaction with anyone from this company, we have been blown away by their service.  It's nice to see that the testimony of company is also being shown to us through our various interactions with their staff.  I'm amazed at the courtesy that is given by every single employee that we've met.  It's awesome!

Earlier today, there was a knock at the door.  It was the UPS man delivering a package.  Without giving it much thought, PQ asked if he could open it.  As he began ripping into the box, he noticed that the package was for him.  The return address said something like 'corporate headquarters', so I was a little confused.  I didn't know Papa H had ordered something for PQ.  Perhaps he shouldn't be opening it without his father present?  All of these random thoughts were swirling through my head when PQ shouts "It's from Chick-Fil-A!"

I couldn't believe it.  Almost 6 weeks ago, PQ wrote a letter to the owner of Chick-Fil-A asking if they could open a store in our hometown.  (I don't remember if I posted his letter or not...so please forgive me if this letter recap is something you already know about.)  Anyways, the letter went on to explain that PQ would like to be the manager of a Chick-Fil-A if they ever open one up in our hometown.  Today my friends, he received a reply to his letter...and he received some pretty top secret information (about other locations popping up NEAR us in the next 18 months)!  Inside the package was some pretty cool stuff...

As you can see, PQ was a little taken back by the package!

Kinky Curly Custard!

It's time for me to share the most delicious hair product with y'all.  My friend Zandra recently gave me a tub of the most delicious-cupcake-smelling-make-you-want-to-eat-something-hair-product for Sugar!  Gracie's hair ALWAYS smells delicious!  Always!  As soon as Sugar came home, Zandra has been trying to connect with me so she could give me a jug of kinky custard.  Unfortunately, we've been having a hard time connecting so Zandra recently gave Fenway the custard to give to me.  Tonight was the first time that we've had a chance to try it out!

The true test will be in the morning...when she wakes up for the day.  We are usually met with wild strands that have a mind of their own.  We love her crazy hair.  We love how wild it can be.  And from what our pediatrician has told us, her hair has yet to be wild.  The best is yet to come.  So for now, we are hoping that the Kinky Curling Custard helps to tame her wild strands so we can have a little more control over her beautiful locks!  We'll see in the morning....stay tuned!

Valentine's Day and A Few Special Announcements!

What a busy week we've had so far.  Lots of things to share and report out on...so sit back and enjoy!

On Tuesday (Valentine's Day), we had the honor of supporting D-Dawg at the Health Revolution put on by the students at his school.  I was so impressed with their health awareness efforts!  D-Dawg's group was in charge of the healthy cookbook (hence the reason why D-Dawg was sporting the carrot suit).

After attending the Wellness Revolution, me and the kids met up with Fenway for a quick impromtu lunch (and a kinky custard exchange-more on that later-it's hair product for Sugar, y'all)!  And since meeting up with Fenway earlier in the week, her family has some pretty FANTASTIC news!  Their own adoption story is unfolding before their eyes.  They're hoping to have an official number within the next few months!!!  Exciting news indeed!

After the lunch with Fenway, we spent the afternoon hours with some other friends at a Valentine's Party at KP's house.  The kids had a blast, as you will see by the pictures!  (And we're still waiting for PQ to realize that it's VALENTINE'S DAY...somehow that Santa hat continues to be the top pick when we're leaving the house!)

And today marks a VERY special day in our house!  Today, Thursday, February 16th, marks the final post placement visit from our adoption agency!  What does that mean, you ask?  Well, today was the final home visit from our agency...so now we can submit our paperwork to the local court to FINALIZE Sugar's adoption!!!!  Aaaaaand, if that wasn't enough to get your panties in a bunch over....(you're welcome for that, Country Mouse- *wink*)...We are pleased to announce that Little Miss Sugar has her first tooth!  It officially popped through her gums today!

So much to be grateful for...

...and so much to look forward to!

I'm in LOVE!

Valentine's Day...it's the annual "day of love", so to speak.  For whatever reason, our society has decided to honor the warm-fuzzy-gushy-stuff-we-call-LOVE with a single holiday each year.  With so much that has happened in our family over the past year, I can't help but reflect on where we've been and where we are now.  I wouldn't change any of it for the world...because I am madly in love with my two children!  God certainly had the most amazing love story planned for our family...

Not Quite What I Had In Mind...

For years, I've been telling Mama Sunshine that having another sunshine baby would be great.  I know, I know...it's none of my business.  But in my defense, this woman has beautiful children, she's an amazing mom, and she's super cute when she's pregnant!  So as her friend, I have been nudging her along in her maternal journey...hahaha!  Papa Sunshine doesn't mind my nudging because he's all on board with extra sunshine's as well.  But for the time being, Mama Sunshine just isn't ready...and I respect that.  (It doesn't mean that I'll stop harassing her about having more babies...it just means that I respect her current decision...and I know that every decision can be overturned at any moment...so I keep nudging...hoping for another bundle of sunshine!)

See!  Isn't she adorable??!!??  Come on, Mama Sunshine...we're all rooting for you!  And as an aside, I will personally feed you ice chips during the summer months...come on, Mama Sunshine!  I love you!  *wink*



Extreme Meal Makeover

Okay, so y'all know how pumped we were about our random road trip earlier this week, right?  Well, it gets better!  Yesterday we received a phone call from the regional marketing manager from Chick-Fil-A.  During our brief visit to a franchise on Tuesday night, I entered a drawing....and guess who ended up winning the grand prize???!!!???  WE DID!!!!

Our name was chosen to receive an Extreme Meal Makeover, which is basically free catering service for up to 12 people!  Seeing as though life is all about moderation, it looks like we're going to hold off on this opportunity for a few more weeks.  The manager said that we could select any day that works best for us and they will take care of everything else from there.  Considering how far away we are from the location, it looks like another road trip is in our future!

HOW FUN!  Seriously, what are the chances?!?  We are PSYCHED about it!
