2008 Football Draft

Country Mouse and Uncle S hosted their annual 'fantasy football draft' and per the usual, there was a TON of food there. I ate everything but the kitchen sink. In all honesty, eating yummy food is one of my favorite parts about the day.

Every year, our family gets geeked up to show our support for Papa H. This year we were able to share the experience with Miss H-Banana. She seemed to have a blast. We thought we would keep the theme familiar (using the MY FAMILY THINKS I'M A KEEPER SHIRT-hahaha-if you don't already know the story please let me know). This year we each made our own t-shirts to support Papa H in his drafting efforts.

In his own efforts to psych out the opponents this year, Papa H opted for a Polish mohawk(basically a reversed mohawk)...hahaha. Go, Papa H! Please don't forget to shave the rest of your head before you go back to work on Tuesday!!!!

***Miss H-Banana gave me a little wink as she came up with her shirt...she thinks she's slick.***

Yummy food was everywhere. Bella was eating her dinner (below)...

Everyone is quite serious about this drafting stuff...

It's 9pm...and Bella is still eating! (I love this about her...she LOVES to eat!)

The rest of us were left to fend for ourselves so we entertained each other with a dance contest, singing contest, and a 3x3 basketball game in the livingroom. Thanks again to Country Mouse (below-singing some 80's song) and Uncle S. Another great time at the Mouse House!

Busting a move...

And yes...here she is again...eating a yummy treat at 9:45pm!!!!! I love her.

Another great celebration at the Mouse House. Brando was disappointed that I didn't make pulled pork sandwiches for the big food fest (I mean, DRAFT). So psyched about that. Looks like Mama H and the pulled pork will be busting out for The Super Bowl instead!

*But for the record...I don't want pulled pork to be 'my thing'. It's just not that appealing...hahaha.

Papa H has a surprise for us...

On Friday night, Papa H surprised us with tickets to a baseball game! PQ, Miss H-Banana, Papa H, and I attended the game and we had a BLAST! We did have a run in with a pop fly coming REALLY CLOSE but I didn't end up catching it. I tried to use PQ's hat to snag it but it was about 3 feet out of reach. (WHAT WAS I THINKING!!??? Can you even imagine how much that would have hurt if we got hit by the ball!!??)

Before the game, I had to run into a local store. When Miss H-Banana and I came out of the store, THIS (below) is what we found. PQ was 'driving' his Dad around town. Apparently, PQ found one of my headbands in the car so he put it on under his hat. He cracks me up!

Why is it that boys HIDE when the camera comes out!!??

And girls welcome the photo opportunity.
(Thanks, Miss H-Banana!)

Finally the boys come around too...apparently Miss H-Banana had an influence on them!

Oh boy...we all look really impressed, eh? HAHA!

And finally, the kids say good-bye to their little-big buddy.

Veggie Quesadilla's

Vegetable Quesadillas....SO YUMMY!

Did we eat them all? Nope.

Where did they go, you ask??

I'll let you take a guess...

*Luckily we had eaten dinner and THIS (above) is what I found when I came back outside to get the remaining dishes! Apparently, basset hounds like quesadilla's too.

Another benefit from His blessing

I love my job. I feel like I'm on vacation at some point every week (because I'm only working 20 hours per week). My family and I are reeping the benefits of this blessing. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be at home more often because of my new position.

Today was one of my scheduled days off this week. PQ and I had the opportunity to hang out with Grammy, D-Dawg, and Beaner at the local animal farm. We had a blast!

Before we left for the farm, the boys hung out with D-Dawg's PS3.

The kids posing at the animal farm...

Yes, the kids weren't the only 'animals' at the park...
(Just kidding...the kids were VERY well behaved.)

Can you say GORGEOUS!!???

After eating lunch at J&N's, the kids got crazy(er)...

And Beaner met a BIG, puppy friend...
(Country Mouse and Uncle S are supposed to be buying her a REAL one for her birthday...)

Another great day indeed. The plans for my life that He continues to create are amazing!

And So It Begins...

5 years old, starting to play soccer, and approaching the start of his official school career.

On Saturday, we went to PQ's first soccer clinic. It was fun seeing how fiesty he can be on the field. He can kick the ball really hard. It was impressive.

Racing to get a ball from the pile...

Listening patiently to his coach...

Idolizing the 'older soccer players' from the local team...

Playing like a champion...

On Sunday, we decided to have some much needed family time. While we were out, we saw these redneck mobiles (below)...and of course PQ wanted one. (They are mini monster trucks.)
We eventually met up with Mamie and Miss H so we could go and visit Miss K. I hope to never have to visit Miss K in that type of setting ever again. She ran away again last week and she has been in a crisis unit since Thursday. I really hope she knows how many people in this world love her and want the best for her.
Today was interesting. I worked at the school and then I hung out with PQ until Papa H got home. Grammy and Grampa invited us over for dinner (lasagna...SO GOOD). After dinner, we went to the local library for a SUMMER READING PROGRAM CELEBRATION. Look what PQ got....oh yes, his very own (2 inch) trophy!!! He's so proud!

Busy schedules, new activities, unexpected circumstances...they are all around us. Sometimes I need a little reminder to take it all in strides. Papa H helps me with this...he keeps me grounded. Thanks, Papa H...

A FUN DAY HAD BY ALL

Where on earth should I begin?

Well, today we drove Grammy, Beaner, PQ, and Mooch to a theme park for the day. Yes, Mooch came along...they have a free outdoor dog kennel so he got to stay in a lovely room overlooking the ocean while we played. :)

Papa H made homemade muffins for breakfast. We left the house this morning with muffins and milk for everyone to eat in the car on the way to the park.

About an hour after we left, Beaner threw up in the back seat. We pulled over and cleaned out the car as best as we could. Upon getting the car cleaned up, Beaner immediately asked how much further we had to drive before getting to our final destination.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!?? She still wanted to go!!!?? Oh yes, she's a trooper.

This is her after she got back in the car after this first round. Oh yes, there was a second round about 20 minutes later. Luckily Grammy thinks ahead so Beaner had a plastic bag this time. We pulled over to 'dump out' the bag and then me and Papa H rinsed it out (just in case we needed it for another round of FUN TIME in the car). She didn't end up needing it...YAY!

I won't bore you with all the details of the day. I think this says it all...

Smiling cousins...

Beaner and I had been looking forward to this ride for weeks! SO FUN!

Going up...

Got milk?

Mama H and Papa H

Standing in line...not sure what PQ's face is all about!!??
(Doesn't he look up to something?)

PQ & Beaner Pie, Anyone!!??

2 Red Hot Peppers and a Jester

Beaner zooming down the slide...

Silly kids...

You mean to tell me that THIS was his view!!??
(He wasn't impressed...with us.)

Can you say 'ZONKED'!!???

A great day had by all!

PQ's 6 month cleaning...

Happy Wednesday!

Our day started with a photo op...PQ wanted to take a picture of me using the new camera. I let him do it...and it actually came out better than I anticipated. (I was centered...)

After the quick photo shoot, I brought PQ outside for his own photo session. Here is a quick photo that I took before we headed off to the dentist. Isn't he cute!!??

Here we are...at the dentist office. PQ loves going to this dentist! Everyone is REALLY nice and it is totally kid friendly (can't you tell from the decorations?).

PQ had to have some x-rays today. (Papa H's family has a genetic *ism* that stops the growth of some of their adult teeth. The baby teeth never fall out because there is no adult tooth waiting for the space. Don't worry, you can't tell that they are baby teeth...they're typically in the back of the mouth so nobody ever notices. So...they were taking x-rays to determine if PQ also had the same issue.)

And after another round of photos, the verdict was in....PQ does have the same problem. Luckily, it is only one tooth that will never have an adult tooth grow in it's place. The dentist said that judging by the x-rays, he will have this baby tooth until he is very old. (It's the last tooth on the left side.)

Next, came the cleaning...and another round of fun tidbits at the dentist. PQ has SIX loose teeth!!!!! Can you believe that!!?? I asked the dentist if he could give me a timeframe on when they will start to fall out and he said that he would be SURPRISED IF PQ STILL HAD SOME OF THE TEETH ON THE BOTTOM IN A MONTH (because the roots are non-existant)! He said that once one of them goes, the rest of them will go quickly.
Looks like it's APPLES for him (to push the process along)...hahaha.
He also said that PQ had a small cavity. BOO HOO!!!

The dentist also made note that the 4 bottom teeth that are loose are making way for 2 new adult teeth coming through. They thought that the new teeth were larger in size which will cause crowding. He will most likely need a retainer in the next year or so to keep the molars from causing havock in his mouth. LOVELY, EH!!? The dentist thought that we would become good friends over the course of the next few years because PQ was going to need some work in order to keep the teeth from not getting out of control. Poor PQ!
It's not bad though....he made it clear that this is NOT A SEVERE ISSUE...it's just something that they need to tackle before it escalates into more of a problem for him.

Later on, we went outside for some scooter riding. He loves to ride his scooter.

I think PQ had enough photos today...

At 6:30, we went to pick up Beaner....fun day at the amusement park tomorrow. :)
