Say what??!!!??

"PQ, put the nunchucks away please."
*Just one of those things you never thought you would hear yourself say.*

Taffy for you...Taffy for me.

We took an impromtu trip to the local taffy store today with Grammy. This store reminds me of my childhood. We always took trips down to the beach so we could watch the taffy machines at the storefront. Leaving with our own box of taffy was always the highlight!

PQ was psyched about the taffy!

What boy doesn't LOVE a candy store??!!??

After heading out to D-Dawg's baseball game this evening, we came home to find...

A box on the floor and Mooch hanging his head.

The taffy is gone...

...or is it??!!??

Deep inside my (dusty) closet too??

You've got to be kidding me!!!

Is this for his entertainment or ours?

Three more pieces stuffed down inside the couch...

...and one stuffed inside the loveseat!

Sneaky...very sneaky.

Mooch has always had a habit of stealing food. Hence his nickname, "Mooch". He is constantly trying to "mooch" food from people (and other dogs). He loves to 'counter surf' while we're gone off on an adventure. We think it's his way to telling us that he doesn't like to be home alone.
The funniest part about his obsession with food is that he usually hides the food he steals. He rarely eats it so we typically have to spend some time searching for 'treasures' through the house. Although we didn't find all of the taffy, we did manage to find a few new hiding spots that Mooch thought were fun.
So the next time you're at the house, please feel free to search for a snack while you're here!

"The Claw Master"

After eating ice cream and playing video games, Alex Trebek decided to test his luck with the claw machine. We all know what machine I'm talking about. It's the one that is filled with stuffed toys, play watches, and other random toys that get kids attentions. Yeah, you know...it's the one that always takes your money and you never get anything in return.

Well, Alex decided that he would 'rip off the machine' one more time. After explaining to him that the machine was actually ripping him off, he proved me wrong by WINNING a toy! Seriously, y'all....I've never in my 33 years of life seen anyone win anything from a claw machine. But yesterday, I did. I got to see Alex win a stuffed panda toy!

Below are the kids and their 'winnings'. They include a stuffed toy, a fake gold necklace, a plastic monkey, a plastic lizard, and a few bouncy balls. Seriously, it's amazing how a few quarters can make an afternoon that much more fun!

Can anyone say, DATE NIGHT???

It's been a while since my last post. Things have been really busy for us and I've been taking time to enjoy my boys. Last week we went to Boston for 3 days in honor of Father's Day as well as PQ's birthday. We had a blast and I have plenty of pictures to prove it.

I have to admit...ever since our trip to the big city, I've been obsessed with outdoor dining! I love sitting outside to eat and this past trip to Bean Town completely pushed my inner love into overdrive.

I saw this picture recently and couldn't help but think: DATE NIGHT! Oh my goodness...if anyone knows of a place like this in area, please let me know! I heart date nights! *wink*

Just like Daddy...

The books are much cuter than the reaction that I just got at home. After convincing PQ to let me cut his hair at home, he told me that he wanted a buzz cut just like Daddy. As soon as the last strip of hair was buzzed away, PQ ran anxiously to the bathroom to check out his new hair. Or should I say, his new lack of hair.

Bloody screams came out of the bathroom as PQ realized that a buzz cut meant just that. All of his hair has been buzzed off and he is NOT happy! He's in the shower as I am typing so I'm hoping that he has a change of heart when he exits the shower.

Perhaps time will heal the pain...

A Friend Filled Weekend

What a weekend! We started off Friday evening and Saturday morning with Miss Independent and then ended the weekend with Alex Trebek. We all had a blast together, that's for sure!

PQ and Miss Independent

Only SHE would lose a tooth while camping!

Dinner is served.

Mooch thought he could have Smores too!

Mooch is persistant, isn't he?

Little Miss Weenie was very well behaved...

...and Mooch was too (once Miss Independent finished her smore).

Who knew camping girls were sassy??!!??

PJ time= Madlibs time!

The dogs wanted nothing to do with it.

They were literally busting out loud!

Alex Trebek arrived shortly after Miss Independent headed to her game.

It started to rain so we had some fun in the camper.

Papa H quickly turned into a not-so-happy-camper!
(The camper was leaking...)

The boys played while we packed everything up.

Are they planning on diving into the small bowl of water??!!??

Once we got home, Alex decided to snuggle with Little Miss Weenie...

...while Papa H set up an air hockey table.
(My husband is so random...I love that.)

The boys waited patiently...

...and soon got to play!

Playing games was part of our camping plan...

...but ice cream just sort of squeeked into the plans.

Papa H keeps his word...when he says we're going camping, we're going camping. Even if that means we have to do it in our own livingroom!

Trebek's first sleepover is sure to be one to remember...

...partly because of the way PQ was sleeping!

Apparently PQ didn't have enough room in the tent??!!??

Did I mention matching PJ's?
(Alex had brought WARM Pj's for camping...so PQ gave him a lighter pair to wear at our house...aka: our campground...*wink*)

On Sunday, we went to the Church Picnic.

Hey look, it's the Sunshine Family!!

Papa H + Ultimate Frisbee= SOAR BODY
(He'll learn one of these days...*wink*)

The weekend was busy but it was a BLAST! Aside from the leaking camper, I wouldn't have changed a single thing!

You Just Never Know...

While walking into a meeting this afternoon, I gently placed my hand on the bottom of my purse. Much to my surprise there was something hairy under there. Without looking too akward, I lifted up my purse to see the bottom...only to find this:
You guessed it...

PQ decided to put his fake mustache on the bottom of my purse!

BOYS! You just never know with them...

Gotta Love Camping...

As our weekend camping excursion approaches, I can't help but ponder some of my favorite things about camping. How Papa H ever got me 'into' this hobby, I'll never know. Heck, even calling it a hobby is a stretch. I do it for him and PQ. It's that simple. I do it for them.

What I like about camping is the dirtier I am, the more fun I'm having.

What I like about camping is substituting random things from our cooler for those items that I forgot to pack.

What I like about camping is getting smoke in my eyes from the campfire...oh yeah, baby...there's nothing quite like that sting!

What I like about camping is losing a perfectly toasted marshmallow in the campfire.

What I like about camping is wearing dirty socks to bed that could easily be made into high fiber jerky treats by smoking them over the open fire.

What I like about camping is having mosquitos swarm over me while I try and sleep.

What I like about camping is how one of those mosquitos finds its way under the blankets that cover my head...and somehow it buzzes in my ear all night long.

What I like about camping is that I'm so soar when I wake up...and that I need to deposit 8 extra quarters in the shower just to loosen up my muscles after a long night of tossing and turning.

What I like about camping is having to wait 45 minutes to get breakfast made in the morning.

What I like about camping is that we have to walk a mile to get to the nearest bathroom.

What I like about camping is getting enough dirt tracked into the camper on the first day, that we can grow the food we will need for the rest of the trip.

And last but not least, What I like about camping is seeing how happy it makes my boys. Sometimes you just have to take one for the team. I love you, guys.

I DID IT!!!!!!

It's official....As of today, I am officially a Certified Teacher!! I passed my final test and I just received notification of it today. You have no idea how thrilled I am to say that I am certified. After all of these years of second guessing myself, I finally proved to myself that I could have done it all along.

Unforgetable...

We can't help but send this song out to Husband.

We love you, guys. XOXOXO

Water Day At School

Today was WATER DAY at PQ's school. The kids got to play water games ranging from water balloon toss to free play in the sprinklers. To say the least, the kids had a BLAST! I had the honor of helping out during the festivities and I spent a majority of my day smiling because of it.

My HIGH for the day was hugging PQ during the assembly that honored volunteers for the school.

My LOW for the day was seeing what happens when kids are required to wear sneakers for the 1.5 hours of wet play...you'll see why.

These are not some 99 year old mans feet...these are PQ's feet.

One word....PRUNED.

Celebrating PQ's birthday with friends

As you know, PQ has been very busy with birthday festivities over the past week. This year he decided to have a 'kids party' with a few friends from his class along with a seperate family party. Because of this, we opted to take PQ out of school on his actual birthday so we could spend some quality time with PQ alone. We headed to his FAVORITE toy store where he was honored on his special day. We took him out to lunch and then headed back home.

Of course the idea of missing school upset him...

...until he realized how much FUN we were going to have.

The kids party was held at the local farm where they could play miniature golf and eat some homemade ice cream. Seriously, why don't grown ups have these kinds of parties? Hhhhmm...My birthday is in a few more months. Perhaps we're on to something here. But enough about my big day, let's get back to PQ's festivities! PQ couldn't go to his party on an empty stomach so we took him and his friend, "The Ark" to Mickey D's.

Settle down, boys...you're only 7!

The kids played while we waited for everyone to arrive.

Aaah, yes...this brings back memories, doesn't it?
(We all know Tony LOVES mini golf water!)

The boys...and 1 brave girl.

Ice cream soup, anyone?

(It was a little hot out...)

The festivities didn't end there though. Sunday night was spent with our friends at DAY OF DESTRUCTION! Oh yes....PQ was in heaven! Happy Birthday To Him! I guess there's nothing more exciting for a redneck than watching a derby race with other rednecks!

SO MUCH FUN!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PQ!
