Seriously...I never knew how DELICIOUS this little jar of goodness could be! If you're like me and you've never had this, please do yourself a favor and get a jar to try. OH MY WORD...I promise you won't be disappointed!! (I'm still having a hard time justifying this as a breakfast spread. It's more like a yummy dessert in my mind.) Thanks for picking this up for us to try, Papa H! It's my new favorite treat!

Got Goat?

This afternoon, we spent several hours visiting with some friends from church (who now go to another church) that we haven't seen in a long time. We were excited to catch up with them and to hear how they've been doing. You remember them...they're the family that just makes you feel so welcomed at their home. Anything goes in their home and it's a nice change of pace to be around them.

The children have all grown like weeds. Taller, bigger, and brighter. Time flies, that's for sure. Much to our disappointment, C-man wasn't around for the afternoon with the family. He had a sleepover at another friends house so he was missing in action. I would have loved to see him and give him a huge hug but that will have to wait for another visit at another time.

The McFamily continue to raise all sorts of animals. From milking goats to chickens to pigs (my favorite) to turkeys to meat goats, that have quite the farm. Some of the goats recently gave birth (yesterday) so we got to meet their littles as well. Even though I can't imagine having my own farm to tend to, I love going to the McHouse to visit and hear about all of the crazy animal stories! My favorite story from this trip was hearing about Mr. Mc trying to deliver baby goats while Mrs. Mc was out of town last week at a homeschool convention. Let's just say that he had never 'worked' at delivering one of the animals before. (Oh to be a fly on the wall that day...hahaha.)

You just never know what kind of things you'll get into at the McHouse. I love feeling so comfortable with a family of friends. Eating goat with them was a little nerve wracking at first but after taking my first bite, my tastebuds were asking for more. It was delicious. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would like goat meat. Even saying it outloud sounds so bizarre to me. I guess you should never judge a book by it's cover...or judge a meat by it's name...or hmmmm....I can't think of another corny analogy. I guess you'll just have to trust me on this one. *wink*

April Vacation

HAPPY APRIL VACATION!

Our Own Weekend To Remember...

From Friday night until Sunday afternoon, we will be hosting the Glory kids while their parents head out of town for a couples retreat. So far so good. Everyone seems to be having a great time.

Princess E is texting like a fool. She's put the device away for a few 1/2 hour stints of time but not without withdrawals. Papa H loves to harass her about her obsession with texting. He even challenged her to leave her phone at home this week while their family goes away for vacation. She didn't seem too impressed by the idea.

A-man continues to keep track of the time, even if it's in the middle of the night. He woke me up a few times last night to give me a tally for the total number of hours he's been asleep. He's hilarious. We're both a little high strung so I can totally understand where he's coming from.

Tony, on the other hand, keeps reminding me that he will be sleeping over until Sunday. Does he not realize that I know this already??!!??

Matthew 7:7 ~ Christian School

For the past several weeks, we have been researching and visiting various Christian schools in the area. We had considered homeschooling PQ in the past, however, our current financial situation requires both of us to be working at this point in our lives. Not knowing what path to choose, we started exploring other options for him. PQ has a very strong desire to learn more about God. Ever since his friend brought a "God Book" to school last year (but was told not to bring it back), PQ has been anxiously asking us when he can go somewhere to learn about God during his school day. After praying for God's will to be disclosed, we feel extremely led to send PQ to a Christian school.

Of course, Christian schools are not free and they do require a hefty tuition to be paid. Not knowing God's will for PQ's schooling is a challenge but we are trusting that He has a reason for leading us down this path. On the way to today's tour, Papa H and I spent some time talking about the "what-if's". You know, all the 'what if this happens' questions or the 'what about that' scenerios. Our biggest what-if's are in regards to A.) the financial aspect of the school and B.) the commute-how will it make sense to drive all this way and spend the extra money on gas if I'm only working part time and our house is 35 minutes away. As we pulled into the parking lot of the school, we both resolved to give all of this to God. No matter where PQ ends up going to school, God will provide all of the details to the "what if's".

Our tour guide(s) were great. They were both very sweet women who were extremely approachable. While walking through the halls on our tour of the elementary school, we began discussing the town that we are from. Knowing that it's several miles away from the school, we didn't give much thought to the idea that other local families might be attending there as well. Within moments of this conversation, a kind woman came out of the classroom to say 'hello'. We introduced ourselves to her and then she asked us where we were from. After answering her question, she smiled and told us that she also lives in our town! Not only that, she quickly offered a ride-share for PQ if we decide to send him there.

Papa H and I stood in the hallway (recollecting our conversation on the way up to the school) and smiled gently at one another. God will provide. We just didn't expect Him to do it so quickly!! We thanked the teacher for her gracious offer and we continued on the tour. A short while later, we saw a little girl that plays indoor soccer and basketball with PQ. We had no idea that she was a student at the school. After finishing our tour of the school, we made a loop back to exchange numbers with the teacher from our same hometown.

We left this school feeling extremely excited but we definitely don't want to get our hopes up. The school has so much to offer PQ. We truly believe that he would THRIVE there. The only "what-if" that we need to address is the financial what-if. Prior to leaving the school, the Admissions Director suggested that I submit my application for employment to their school for consideration. They have a few teaching openings for the Fall. If I were to pass my teaching certification test and get hired by the school, PQ's tuition would be drastically reduced. Aaaaahhh...my heart thumps at the idea of teaching in a Christian School. Here I go again, what-if this...or what-if that. I really need to give it all to God. Let Him decide and let Him work it out. Afterall, He will provide. He definitely reminded us of that again today.

What's my HIGH?

My HIGH for the weekend was watching my son sit on the side deck playing his guitar this afternoon. As he sat alone on the deck practicing to play, he made up a song. The reason why this was my high from the entire weekend is because PQ got to see several men praising God through their music over the weekend and that made him want to do the same. Adam Joel (click on the link) is a friend of Papa H's and he gave an acoustic performance at the mens fellowship breakfast on Saturday morning, per Papa H's request. Following Adam's performance on Saturday, several boys played some pretty fantastic music at our church this morning during service. The entire weekend was filled with plenty of music and PQ completely embraced that time. He has always wanted to play an instrument...but it wasn't until this past weekend that he really decided that the guitar might be his favorite.

Letters To God

Papa H and I heard about this movie today during our travels. After watching the trailer, we both want to see this movie as soon as we can. Has anyone else seen it yet?

After a slight change in plans, we celebrated Papa H's 37th birthday at home this evening. There's nothing quite like a paper cup full of ice cream with a candle on top to celebrate your big day, is there Papa H? *wink*

Warm Weather & Lobster

Wow! The weather has been fantastic lately!!! Seriously...I don't remember ever being able to wear summer clothes this early in the year. The weekend was a blast and we completely took advantage of the warm weather. PQ had an impromtu playdate with Tony on Saturday, which ended up being a pretty wet event.

What can I even say about this picture??!!??

Tonight we had the Glory family over for dinner. Papa H got lobsters from Grammy (his birthday is tomorrow) so he and PQ and Glory ate lobsters until their hearts were content. The rest of us ate a bunch of other things ranging from steak to salad to leftovers. No lobsters for us. Although Princess E did have a claw.

These were better than ANY toy we have in the house.

The lobster fans were on the other side of the table...far, far away from me and A-Man! Happy Early Birthday, Papa H!
