How often do you clean out your car?
(This car was in the parking lot of one of the local schools. I couldn't help but take a picture. Papa H always tells me how much 'stuff' I have in my car...but at least it's not THIS bad!)

Old Shoes...New Shoes
After throwing the pair of shoes in the trash this evening, I went online and bought 3 new pairs of shoes from LandsEnd. A co-worker of mine told me about their overstock sale online so I'm giving it a whirl. I bought a pair of black shoes, brown shoes, and mossy green shoes. They look sporty (in person and online) and according to my co-worker, they're 'super comfortable' as well. Their $11.99 pricetage (down from $40) was another huge selling point. Hence the reason for three pairs rather than just one. Woot! Woot!
They should be arriving in a few days. I'll keep y'all posted when they come in. Hopefully they're just as cute and comfy in person...

Date Night- Adam Joel
Last night, PQ headed over to Grammy & Grampa's house while we headed up to the big city. Where were we going, you ask? We were going to a CD release party for one of Papa H's friends who recently recorded his first album. Glory and her DH rode up to the big city with us and then we met up with the Sunshine couple.
Before the show, we went to the restaurant at the hotel for a quick bite to eat. Well, at least it was supposed to be quick. Apparently laughing with friends can delay things a bit. No worries though...we were at the show with plenty of time to spare before Adam performed.
After the show, we were still hungry so we went out for another bite to eat. But wait...please say hello to our terrified husbands!
(Wow..they sure look scared, don't they? Hollywood here they come. *wink*)

Happy St. Patty's Day!!
PQ headed to school with a green t-shirt and an extra large green tie for St. Patrick's Day. He looked extremely festive!
After all, he is half Irish, you know??!!!??
(That's for you, Country Mouse. *wink*)

"A miracle has happened."
Since Saturday, there have been some truly amazing things happening. Laurie beat the odds on Saturday evening and she continued to stay alive even though the doctors did not have much hope for her survival. After being taken out of the coma, she continues to stay alive and show signs of improvement. As of this afternoon, she began breathing on her own. They removed her breathing tube and she gave the staff quite a fight. Within a few hours, she sat up in her bed and began to talk! She still needs prayer and she still has a long road ahead of her....but she's trying to make it through this.
When I picked up PQ from school today, I gave him an update on Laurie and their family. Without hesitation, PQ shouted "MAMA, A MIRACLE HAS HAPPENED!!". Yes, PQ. A miracle has happened!
You see, that's just it. A miracle has happened before our eyes. The doctors didn't give our friend more than a few hours to live but yet she has defied the odds. She wasn't alone though. She had a mighty God holding her hand the entire way. You see, our God is good all the time. Even though we might not understand every trial or tribulation that happens in our lives, it's important for us to know that God is good. He has a perfect plan for each of us. Sometimes He uses people like Laurie and their circumstances to bring more people closer to Him. Think about it...over 1000 'friends' have joined her prayer page. Not all of them know this family. Many of them got linked up to her story through someone else that they know. People are seeing the love of God wrap their arms around this family just by reading some of the posts that other believers are leaving.
It gives me chills to know that Laurie's life is being used to bring more people to their knees. She loves the Lord and she lives for Him too. There isn't another person that I can think of that would have been more honored to know that God is using their life for His plan.

Prayers for Laurie

Their family is asking for any and all prayers. Please pray for her, for her husband, and for her 3 young children. Even if you've never gotten down on your knees for prayer before today, I'm asking you to please do this for their family.

Tickets, get your tickets!
When Papa H got home from work on Friday night, he was met by two clowns. Yes, that would be us. PQ and I dressed up in mismatched clothes and painted our faces. We created a list of carnival games that we could play and we also created a earning system for the tickets. The games ranged from things like table-top bowling to shooting indoor basketball hoops. We even made up a little song for when Papa H came home. It was our way of welcoming him to the Carnival after a long day at work.
After the carnival was over, we all settled down to watch a movie.
This evening, Papa H reminded us that we often need to think outside of the box. Allowing our creativity to soar was exciting for all of us. We all acted a little extra kooky (it's hard to imagine us getting more kooky, isn't it??) and PQ absolutely had a blast. It's definitely something that we will be doing again soon.

Yard Sale, Anyone??
Disclaimer: Some items have been purchased (and brought back downstairs for PQ to find later on in the day.) Papa H 'bought' the two hockey sticks for $1.50...apparently, PQ will bargain with his Dad. Papa H returned the items to their original destination for PQ to find a little later. I, on the other hand was able to buy a kiss. Yes, that's right...it cost me .50 cents but it was well worth it. I love my little man.

Long Bodies Apparently Cause Postal Chaos
As most of you already know, she had a fierce run in with Mooch over a year ago. Yes, Mooch was the basset hound that she was referring to. After being maced through the mailslot by the prior mail man (he was a crotchety old man), Mooch became a little territorial with people daunting the postal uniform. Hence the reason why he bit our new post lady on the hip after getting out the front door.
We've had numerous conversations (which include good humor) about the 'basset attack'. In all her years as a postal worker, she has never heard of another basset hound biting someone. It's just not typical of their breed. They tend to be SUPER LAZY dogs that are EXTREMELY LAID BACK. That is, until they get maced!
But seriously...go figure! Who would have ever thought that the two low-to-the-ground-breeds-that-we-own-with-mini-legs-and-long-bodies would cause such chaos for this poor postal worker??!!??
I'm just glad that we had one dog that wasn't part of her past! *WINK*

I'm back!
What a crazy storm!
What about you...how many days were you without power?
