When It Rains It Pours...

Are you kidding me? Seriously. It's been one of those days for me. You know the kind of days where you run around like a crazy woman and then 'things' start to happen? Well, let me just sum up a few of the key events from the day. Oh boy...sit down for this one...

*Around 8:30am, PQ went with Grammy to a few local yard sales while I stayed at home to clean. (Not very crazy, is it?)

*At approximately 9:15am, I noticed PQ's BRAND NEW MP3 player so I thought that it would be kind of fun to listen to his music while I zoom around the house cleaning like a madman. (Still not very crazy, eh?)

*At about 9:30am, my sons MP3 player fell out of my pocket and into a tub full of water and soap. Oh yes, I was scrubbing the tub listening to Beckah Shae and WHAM, the unit fell into the sudsy water. Apparently I was way too into it (ie: the song) and I turned from the Cleaning Lady Of the World to the Worst Mom In The World!

*By 9:32am I was trying desperately to dry off the little player so PQ would never know about my little mishap. Afterall, I never even asked him if I could use this brand.new.$100.item! Seriously, I've been harping on him to make sure he takes good care of the new gadget but yet here I am dropping it into the tub water while he's gone for the morning with my Mother! (Oh boy...it's getting crazy, isn't it?)

*Papa H went to WalMart to return the item (we bought the protection plan-Thank God!). He was able to return the item with no problems and intead of buying a new one for him right then and there, he took the money so PQ could go back later and get it himself. (At this point in the day, I soon started to climb back up the totem pole to Best Mom Of The Year again.)

*At 11:30am, Papa H told PQ the news and PQ wasn't even phased. (WHAT!!!?? I stressed for nothing?? Typical. Absolutely typical of me!)

*The afternoon was spent watching several kids play miniature golf and (drinking) ice cream from their cones because of the warm temperatures. PQ's 'kid birthday party' was this afternoon and the kids were hilarious. (Nothing too wild and crazy happened here...except of course, the memories of seeing Tony knee deep in the miniature golf water trap a few years ago....funny story!)

*This evening, we took PQ back to Walmart so he could get his new MP3 player. Score! He got an upgraded version using a gift card that one of his little buddies gave him earlier in the day. (I think I might actually see the Best Mom Of The Year sign in the near distance...could it be? Oh my...this is almost too much to handle!)

*We planted our garden this evening (with the neighbors kids) and it was a blast. At 8:45pm, we came in to take showers. After PQ got into bed, I headed out to the computer to download the pictures from the past few days. That's when it hit me. WHAM! As I tried to connect my camera to the cord attached to the PC, I quickly realized that I sent Papa H to Walmart earlier in the day with the WRONG cord. I accidentally gave him my camera cord instead of the cord for the MP3 player!! Oh boy...seriously!!??? Oh yes...

*At 9:37pm (as I type this post), the Walmart staff is looking for the cord. We should be getting a call in the morning to tell us if they've been able to find the cord in the claims processing department.

So for now, I'm going to be bold and say that I might be moving up The Best Mom Of The Year totem but I sure am heading backwards in a few other areas! *wink*

Whoopsie!

Silly Bandz

Apparently these are the hottest fashion trend of 2010. PQ recently started collected them, giving them away, and trading them. He could spend hours playing with the bracelets. He literally will act out various storylines using the bracelets. Everywhere you look around town, there are little kids sporting these funky bracelets. Check them out...

Silly bandz at work...

...and at play!

PQ goes solo...

I had a moment today. My son is going to be 7 years old in a matter of a few days and I'm not sure I'm ready for my little guy to grow up so quickly. I say that with a huge GULP. It seems impossible that he's almost 7 years old. It seems like only yesterday I was giving birth to him. Well, maybe it doesn't really feel like yesterday...but you know what I mean. Time definitely flies!

There comes a time when Mom's and Dad's have to start 'letting go'. What exactly does 'letting go' look like? He's our first child. He's our only child. We tend to err on the side of caution and we tend to keep our thumbs on him at all times. Today, however, I decided to give him a little slack. After asking for a bottle of water, I pulled up at the local convenience store...parked directly.in.front of the store doors...handed him a $5 bill and then gave him to go-ahead to go inside and buy his bottle of water.

He was gone in a flash...(you can see him at the counter)

He was thrilled with it...

...and I was just as proud knowing that I could trust him to do what I asked him to do. He went straight into the store, picked out the bottle of water, and then came back out and got in the car.

It's really all about trust. I trust PQ. I really do. I know that when we ask him to do something, he's going to do it. Today was proof that letting go from time to time is good for both of us. He got to see how it felt to have a little independence (even though I was stalking him through the glass doors)...and I got to see how it felt to let my little guy take on some responsibility. Wow...seven years later I'm still in awe over him. I love this little guy more than he could ever know.

Aaaaaawwww....

Priceless.

*Little Miss Weenie had surgery today so PQ snuggled up with her and fell asleep.*

PQ's 1st Baseball Game Of The Season...

Batter up! Oh yes...it's that time of year again! Papa H and I are coaching a team of 13 little boys again this year. It's coach pitch baseball at it's finest! PQ was psyched about the opening game this evening. To be honest, he was mostly thrilled with the idea of wearing a cup and getting to be the catcher during the game. Oh, the joys of boyhood. (In tee ball last year, they didn't require a catcher to be in position. Apparently coach pitch is a little more hard core. *wink*)

Our little slugger!

Seriously...he's a mini Uncle L!

Getting 'Rough & Tough' with Auntie!

PQ stayed home sick from school today because he was having some asthma related issues. A fever coupled with wheezing was reason enough to keep him home for the day. During the early afternoon, Auntie came over to visit. Little did she know that she would leave the house looking like a new woman! Let me explain...PQ offered Auntie a temporary tattoo and Auntie completely embraced the idea. Seriously...this might have been one of the funniest days of my life! My 76 year old Aunt was psyched to be getting some tattoos on her arms. The best part about it is that she was hoping that they would stay on her arms until she goes grocery shopping in the morning. Absolutely hilarious. Oh man...to be a fly on the wall tomorrow at the local grocery store!

Auntie was getting 'inked' up.

I don't know who was more excited about the tattoos!!??!!

Who knew my Auntie was a want-to-be Biker Girl!
I bet Uncle won't let her come back to our house anytime soon!
*WINK*

Little Miss Weenie Gets Caught Up

What happens when a high anxiety pooch (aka: Little Miss Weenie) gets her bottom teeth caught in her collar? She panics and then gets herself free....and then continues to do it over and over, of course! Apparently she enjoys games that require a little chase and catch action. The only problem is that she's 'catching' her own self in the process. *wink*

PS: Is it wrong that these pictures CRACK me up??!!??!!??

Christian School-Confirmed!

It's official. PQ went for testing at the SCS today and he passed. *wink* I'm making a joke of it but in all reality, some kids who transition from public to private have to repeat a grade. PQ, however, passed the 'test' and therefore will be going into the 2nd grade at their school in the fall. His registration fee was paid for today and the monthly tuition payments will begin in August.

PQ is still trying to get his head around the fact that his school has a church in it. He BEAMED when they showed him their sanctuary this afternoon on his tour. He is thrilled about the school and that makes us feel good to know that we're making this move for him.

It still seems a little surreal that my reign as the PTG President is almost over. Just a few more weeks to go. I met with the Pastor from SCS today and offered up my assistance. What can I say? I love to help out! I can't wait to be a part of the SCS family!

Freezer Meals...here I come!

We finally bought a new freezer! We decided to buy an upright freezer to make my life a lot easier. Bending over and diving into a chest freezer just doesn't seem fun to me at all. Oh, the possibilities are endless!! Freezer meals, freezer meals...here I come! But before I go, I just want to remind all my friends to keep me posted when you see a great deal on turkeys. *wink*

Seriously...I can't wait to start filling this thing!
