LEGO store and a picnic with Grampa H & Grammy Jo Jo

On Sunday, we took PQ to the closest LEGO store we could find.  Considering his birthday was on Saturday, we wanted to surprise him by taking him to a LEGO store that was having their grand opening celebration this weekend.  Grammy R came with us too!  PQ was psyched about the trip, but he quickly realized that buying LEGO's directly from the company does not always mean that you'll get a better deal.

PQ was PSYCHED (although his expression doesn't seem it)!

FINALLY at the LEGO Store!

PQ was studying the items!

He's clearly impressed by his father's photo opp...(or perhaps he was sad that we were leaving the store).  *wink*

After shopping for a while, we met up with Grampa H, Grammy Jo Jo, and Great Gramma H at a nearby park on our way home.  They weren't able to make it up for PQ's party so they wanted to meet up for a picnic to celebrate PQ's 9th birthday.  While we waited for them to arrive, PQ ran around like a mad man!

I love how carefree my little guy is!  He rocks!

PQ was PSYCHED to meet up with Grampa H!
After all, they are one in the same.

A perfect day for a picnic (and a sweatshirt)!

It was nice having Great Gramma H there as well.

I'll let you guess what Grampa gave PQ...
(Oh yes, don't be jealous, y'all.)
*PS~A huge thank you to Grammy Jo Jo for the birthday clothes!*

Sugar loves her Grammy Jo Jo and I have a hunch that the feelings are mutual.

Even Sugar loved PQ's new furry friend.
Yikes...not another redneck!

Our fun -filled day came to a screeching halt when we came home and saw the mess that Mooch had made while we were gone.  NAUGHTY...NAUGHTY...NAUGHTY!

Don't be jealous, y'all...it adds character to his cabin.
Apparently every redneck has one somewhere in their home.
YIKES...I never thought this day would come!

We had a great day, PQ!  Thanks again for being such a carefree little boy who loves to be silly!  We love you a lot!!  XOXOXOXOXO

Starting with Fenway and Ending with Fenway!

What a week!  I started my week with Fenway and Bruin...and I ended my week with them as well.  We love them and we are blessed to have them in our life, that's for sure!   It's been a hectic week and unfortunately, my photos are lacking the detail that I had hoped for.  Over the week, we managed to squeeze in a case lot sale, glow bowling, a finalization party for Sugar, 3 school days full of testing for PQ, work, Conquerer's Club, baseball practice, and a meet and greet with the baby chicks!  As you will see, my photography skills have been slacking lately...

Heading to the Case Lot Sale on Friday morning...

Introducing the newest Red Sox Fan!

Did I mention that she likes to spit?
(Notice the spit drops on the photo...naughty stuff.)

Glow bowling...hahaha...she looks terrified, doesn't she?!!??

Swiper is coming in for a closer peek...
(I'm sad that these were the only photos I got from our day with Twirly's clan)

Sugar's FINALIZATION PARTY was on Sunday afternoon!
Cupcakes for our sweet girl...or at least for the guests.
*wink*

Sugar LOVES animals!  And apparently this baby chick is her new BFF!

PQ kept his distance...we've told him to stay away from chicks until he's 30.
*wink*
GOOD BOY!

Another perk to living in the woods: BB GUNS

And 9mm's, of course!

It's all fun and games until someone pinches their skin on their automatic.
(Just a minor pinch...)

All in all, it was a GREAT week!  Tons of things to keep us busy and plenty of experiences to learn about.  Thanks again to Fenway and Bruin!  What a great way to start the week...and end the week!  We love you guys...and we're praying for your babies to come home!  XOXOXOXO

The Finished Project!

What can I say?  I goofed!  I forgot to post finished pictures of the project that PQ and Papa H have been working on.  (Thanks for the reminder, Twirly!)  Everything is complete (except for the stain to protect the wood).  I am so impressed with my two boys.  They worked so hard to create and build this playhouse bed.  (Sometimes we have to get creative when our son asks us if he can build a treehouse and we live downtown with no trees in our yard...hahaha.  Instead of complaining, the boys opted to make due with what we already have and build a clubhouse inside instead.)

Front View...

Pardon the unmade bed...and all the stuffed animals.

A view from inside the clubhouse looking out...

PQ is psyched, to say the least.  He loves the bed.  He loves the little cave underneath the bed.  And more importantly, he loves the time that he spent with his father building such a cool project.  It's certainly something that neither of them will ever forget!

A Fancy Feast In Less Than 12 Minutes

As soon as the phone call ended, my boys went into RUSH MODE as they attempted to surprise me with a relaxing evening.  I had called home to let everyone know that I was leaving work and that I would be home shortly.  Apparently my boys quickly came up with the idea that they wanted to sweep me off my feet upon arrival.  They literally had 12 minutes to make it happen before I got home from work.

PQ met me in the driveway when I arrived at home, handed me the lovely handmade ticket (pictured below), and then told me they weren't ready for me to come inside.  He insisted that I stand outside (in the rain) so the surprise would not be ruined.  As much as I love standing outside in the rain (gag), I asked if I could come inside the entryway standing backwards so I would not see their efforts before their final reveal.  My little guy agreed with this request and soon I was walking backwards into my home.  There is a first for everything...*wink*

I was soon escorted into the livingroom where PQ put on some soft music for me as I waited for the meal that was being prepared for me.  At one point, I asked PQ if he was feeling alright.  He assured me that they were both feeling fine.  Within minutes, I was then escorted out to the table where 8 birthday candles had been poked into a raw red potato.  I'm telling you...there's nothing but fancy stuff in this house!  *wink*

After dinner, the boys put together some ice cream sandwich cookies using gingersnaps and lemonsnaps from the local market.  The cookies weren't ideal for the ice cream sandwiches because they are so crisp to begin with...but that didn't matter.  What mattered was that they did their best to sweep me off my feet.  With 12 minutes to prepare a candle light dinner for me using what was on hand, they more than impressed me with their efforts.

I certainly felt like a Princess when I got home from work.  Thanks again, boys!

PQ's Project- A Sneak Peak

Here is a little sneak peak for all of you.  This is a school project (that will remain untitled until it's complete) that Papa H and PQ have been working on.  I won't get into all of the details...but for now, I will give you a quick glimpse of what they've been doing for the past 24 hours.  So far so good.  Things are coming along nicely!  Stay tuned.  I can't wait to see the final reveal.
